Fear Grips Nyantramor: Residents Live In Terror Amidst Surge In Armed Robberies

Residents of Nyantramor in Kpone Bawaleshie, within the Kpone Katamanso Municipality, are living in a state of fear due to a recent surge in armed robberies. The community has been plagued by criminal activity, with reports of vandalism and terrorization of properties. Residents attribute these incidents to the lack of a police post and the poor condition of their roads.

A visit to the town on Sunday afternoon revealed widespread concern among residents. One woman shared a harrowing experience, alleging that her husband was killed by unknown masked men a year ago, with no arrests made since. Others recounted their own experiences of armed robberies and property vandalism, leaving many residents traumatized.

In addition to security concerns, the community is also struggling with poor road networks. The deplorable condition of the roads has forced vehicles to be parked, leaving residents with no option but to walk long distances. However, this has created a brisk business for motor riders, popularly known as okada riders.

At a press briefing, the leadership of the landlords association in the area called on the police administration to establish a police post in the community. The Member of Parliament for the Kpone Katamanso Constituency, Joseph Tetteh, acknowledged the residents’ plight and assured that he is working towards finding a solution.

Residents are urging swift action to address their concerns and restore safety and security to their community. They are calling for immediate attention to their plight to prevent further incidents and ensure their well-being.
